Originally from Saitama, suburban area of Tokyo, Japan, and now residing in Harlem, NY, Yuko bought her first pair of Technics turntables and a mixer when she was 16 yrs old. From there she began collecting vinyls. She was fascinated by the way the sound of 90’s Hiphop and R&B influenced by her friends, and started practicing mixing and scratching on vinyl. When she arrived New York in 1999, she started listening to Dance Classics on Kiss FM and slowly her music preference started to shift towards dance music. Yuko realized that she needed to expand her collection of dance classics, going to record shops such as A1-Records, Dancetracks, Disco Rama, and Vinyl Mania.
In 2004, Yuko started spinning with her dj friends at bars and lounges. This opened new opportunities for her to play out and gain experience in the underground house music scene. In 2013, Yuko was invited by Jihad Muhammad to play on his internet radio show on Buttersoulcafe and Bang The Drum party in NJ. Since then people have taken more notice of her. Her selection of music mainly included underground house, afro and soulful. Yuko has played along side Mark Francis, Jihad Muhammad, Naeem Johnson, Ian Friday, Mark Lewis, Gigi Testa to name a few.
In January 2015, Yuko launched her own brand "Pagoda" and was offered a monthly residency at Club Elevation in NJ with the support of Jihad Muhammad and Duron "Dipp" Tarik. Catch Yuko’s Internet show that runs every Monday on 7PM-9PM
